Family and Consumer Science

The Family and Consumer Sciences program at BMHS provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in the family, community and work settings. Students prepare for successful employment in culinary, family, and child care related careers.

They are engaged in hands-on learning of skills that they will use in life –parenting, family relationships, child care, nutrition, fitness, food preparation and service, as well as communication skills.

In Child Development classes students participate in the operation of a Nursery School. They are responsible for planning, creating and teaching lessons to 24 preschool age children.  In the Culinary classes students learn how to plan, prepare and serve luncheons and other special events to their peers and faculty.
