Marine Science Lab
The BMHS Marine Science Lab is a dedicated classroom and lab space where students engage in hands-on learning.
The lab features a state-of-the-art water filtration system, an aquaponics setup, and a diverse range of aquatic ecosystems—including freshwater, saltwater, and Long Island Sound brackish water—housed in tanks ranging from 10 to 1,000 gallons. Home to over 200 living organisms and specialized equipment like the Iwaki system, the lab also includes a marine engineering and trade skills area.
Students are responsible for maintaining the BMHS Marine Science Lab, using the skills learned in each course to care for biological systems and monitor their health year-round.
