Marine Science Academy

What is the Marine Science Academy?
The Marine Science Academy at Brien McMahon High School is a vibrant, field-based learning community for students passionate about the ocean, coastal environments, and marine industries. As part of the school’s pathway program, the Academy offers a four-year sequence of specialized courses that students take alongside their regular high school classes.
Throughout the program, students benefit from strong partnerships with local and regional marine science organizations and businesses in and around Norwalk. These partnerships provide access to real-world experiences, including internships, guest speakers, and exposure to cutting-edge marine technologies. From coastal ecology to oceanography, students are immersed in learning that connects science to potential college and career pathways — all while exploring the maritime world right in their own backyard.
