Health & Physical Education Department

The Physical Education and Health Department focuses on the students’ development of skills and concepts necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. The health enhancing components in both curricula develop the whole person concept of balancing physical, mental, emotional, and social wellness. The PE program’s emphasis is on participating in regular physical activity, working towards achieving a health-enhancing level of physical fitness; and exhibiting responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in a physical activity setting.

The Health programs focus on the four learning goals of: read, know and apply the core concepts, think and understand.  Our mission is to ensure equal opportunity, equity, and excellence in education for all our students. Our programs are standards and skills based, developmentally and culturally appropriate, and designed to motivate students to maintain and improve their health and develop and demonstrate health enhancing knowledge, attitudes, skills, and practices.
