Art Department
Explore. Create. Inspire. Express.
The Art Department offers many exciting courses for students to develop their creative expression through the visual arts. Students learn higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving, planning strategies, and the correct application of the elements of art and the principles of design. Working independently and collaboratively, students use traditional as well as experimental approaches to fine arts. They create art, develop visual literacy, and engage in art history-informed criticism as well as aesthetics.
With over 20 courses in Studio Arts, Art History & Appreciation, and Digital Media, the BMHS Art Department offers a comprehensive curriculum for students at all skill levels. Courses provide opportunities to develop technical proficiency, creative problem-solving, and visual literacy.
Advanced students can further their artistic study through IB Visual Arts, AP Studio Art, and the Honors Portfolio, providing dedicated artists with the opportunity to build professional-quality portfolios and engage in deeper artistic exploration.
