BMHS Seniors Appointed to Service Academies

Congratulations to Lucas Silva and Robert Gatt!
The Brien McMahon classmates and longtime friends are looking forward to a challenging road ahead after graduation in June. Lucas has been appointed to the United States Military Academy West Point, and Robbie has been appointed to the United States Air Force Academy.
Each Service Academy receives approximately 12,000 applications yearly and only about 1,200 are admitted to each. Aside from high GPAs, personal essays, community service, athletic achievements and a lengthy history of extracurricular activities, aspiring Cadets have to be nominated by a member of Congress. There are also medical exams, interviews and a physical fitness test.
Upon graduation in 2028, Lucas and Robbie will become Commissioned Officers and serve on active duty for at least five years.
