On Saturday, March 14, students from the BMHS Healthcare Academy and HOSA chapter competed at the HOSA State Leadership Conference. We are proud to announce that many students earned top‑three placements in their events, qualifying them to advance to the HOSA International Leadership Conference this June.

World Health and Disparities

In addition to competitive events, students participated in a range of structured, hands‑on educational experiences. These included respiratory therapy simulations, the analysis of a patient case study from Africa, and an interactive DNA activity through which students examined PCR and the role of DNA in modern medical practice. Students also attended informational sessions on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and engaged in career‑focused workshops in occupational therapy, phlebotomy, and pharmacy.

In the coming months, the Healthcare Academy and HOSA chapter will initiate fundraising efforts to support qualifying students as they represent the state of Connecticut at the HOSA International Leadership Conference this summer.
